DEBRA LOCKER

Debra Locker is a consummate communications professional. For 15 years, she has successfully held positions in public relations and journalism that have included pitching and securing key placements in major media outlets, executing large-scale media events, speechwriting, video production, on-air and voice-over work, as well as a host of other communications functions.

Debra’s latest venture came in September 2008 with the launch of Locker Public Relations. Following seven years as the Public Relations Director for the International SPA Association, Debra is uniquely positioned to lead a viable communications company. Locker Public Relations focuses on turning visionary ideas and voices into prominent brands through the strategic use of media relations, video footage, social media, bylined articles and public speaking.

The key qualifications and accomplishments that make Debra stand out in the communications arena include:

  • Leading the successful placement of interviews and quotes with clients in such notable media outlets as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, USA Today, CNBC, FOX, CNN, the Associated Press, National Public Radio, Conde Nast Traveler, Travel + Leisure Town & Country, InStyle, Allure, Self and Shape
  • Drafting speeches that have been presented to groups of more than 3,000 throughout the United States, Asia, Europe, Canada and Mexico
  • Writing and/or ghost-writing articles that appeared in Skin Inc., Les Nouvelles Esthetiques, Pulse, LiveSpa, American Spa, The LOHAS Journal and National Hotel Executive

Prior to joining ISPA, Debra spent seven years as a television journalist. She worked as a producer and reporter, and one of Debra’s proudest moments was being nominated for an Emmy for a hurricane special she produced while working in Charlotte, N.C. Debra began her television career at WKYT in Lexington; then worked for WBIR in Knoxville, Tenn.; WLKY in Louisville, Ky.; and WCNC in Charlotte.

Debra is active in the Junior League of Lexington, Ky.; the National Association of Women Business Owners; and the International SPA Association. A native of Berea, Ky., Debra is a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University where she was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority.
